Cardiologist Appointment

Today's cardiologist appointment was great!  Fortunately, we had an early appointment so that Enzo didn't have to wait too long without eating.  They sedated him for his Echo, and of course he had to get almost the maximum dosages of sedatives for him to hold still enough.  (Even then, he still wiggled more than they would have liked to get the best pictures.)  As soon as they were done, though, he was out like a light.  The only little "bump" of the day was the one Dad gave him when he picked him up to carry him out of the room and Enzo's knocked-out self leaned backwards and hit his head on the door.  It was a just tiny bump and it didn't even phase him though.

The best part was watching him come out of the sedation in recovery.  Dad got a slushy and was nice enough to share with Enzo - who loved it.  As soon as he was done with one spoonful, he'd stick his tongue out as far as it would go as if asking for more. (He was too doped up to bother using his hands to sign "more".) He also got a sippy cup of apple juice and would dump it completely upside down and lean back as far as he could go to get as much out of it as he could.
His cardiologist, Dr. Mack, came up to see him while he was in recovery, so we didn't have to wait for his later appointment.  He said that the echo looked great - the stent is doing it's job.  His heart pressures look great, his oxygen sats were around 99 on room air and they only dropped to the low 90s under sedation.  He'll stay on aspirin indefinitely - and he's gotten big enough to jump up to a full baby aspirin instead of a half - which is awesome cause they're a pain to cut.  We're good to go for another 6 months - that's the longest he's gone without an appointment, and a little scary - but it's still good news - actually, GREAT news.  I can now tone down the worry a little bit for 5 months or so - till I start seeing heart problems in every cough and sneeze (obviously, whether they are there or not.)

Enzo fell asleep on the way home and only woke up long enough to look across the street, pant, and say "dog" when we got out of the car.  He promptly fell asleep on my shoulder - and I'm sure will sleep for much of the day (and probably be awake all night.)  Now...what to do with my free time??
