Homecoming and Family Reunion

Last week we flew to California for my brother Matt's homecoming.  He came home from his mission to Brazil on May 20th, and we flew out to see him the next day.

Enzo, of course, loved the airport.  Between the kid and all of his junk, we had enough to haul around the airport, so our camera was packed and all we had was our cell phone cameras - so some of the pictures are pretty bad, but  I'm sure you can get the idea.  First, we had to ride the escalator up and down, up and down, up and down...something around 15 times.  After a few trips up and down, Enzo realized he could sit on the way down and get a ride.
After our escalator adventures, Enzo got to stare out the window at all of the planes and "trucks" at the airport.
And then he ran around and around and around. Every once in a while, he would take a little break and hang out at the windows again.
We were lucky to be able to fly on small airplane, so instead of boarding directly from the airport through an inside ramp, we got to go outside and see the airplane up close.  Of course, all of the pictures are of the back of Enzo's head, because why would he want to look at the camera when he had an airplane to see.
We were hoping to tire him out so that he would sleep on the plane.  Our plan backfired a little when we got on the plane and he was tired and grumpy, and couldn't fall asleep.  We finally resorted to Baby Einstein on the laptop and he was asleep in minutes.  He woke up when we landed and was grumpy again until he could go back to sleep in the car.

When we got to my mom's house, half of my family, including Matt, were gone somewhere doing who knows what.  Enzo was just fine, hanging out, getting used to his new surroundings, and then everyone got home. We had spent the last couple of months teaching Enzo how to say "Matt" and telling him all about Uncle Matt.  But when Matt walked in the door and as soon as he spoke, Enzo burst into tears. I'm not sure if it was only Matt's deep voice that scared Enzo, or maybe Matt just didn't live up to all we'd built him up to be.  You know, kind of like when everyone tells you how wonderful a movie is, and you go and see it with extremely high expectations - and then walk away disappointed. (Sorry Uncle Matt, I'm just teasing.)

We spent that day hanging out with my family and took family pictures that evening. Unfortunately, our camera was still packed, so Thanks Mom, for sending me some pictures so I could post on my blog.
Here are a few playing at the park:
