My excuses are many as to why it has taken over a month for me to finish my post about our Disneyland adventures. Between then and now, we've taken another trip or two on an airplane, a road trip from Southern California to Sacramento, a trip to Six Flags-something or other in Northern California, ridden on a boat and been to the beach, taken another trip to Disneyland, watched a parade, lit fireworks, and James had surgery. So it's about time I caught up on this blog! But before I get to all of our fun adventures, there are a few other noteworthy moments to share about our Disneyland trip in May.
One, Enzo met another Enzo for the first time. The parking attendant at our hotel was also named Enzo! And a few minutes after meeting that Enzo, we were waiting inside the lobby and another little boy named Enzo walked in as well. Of course, my Enzo is too young to care about meeting someone else with the same name as him....but we made sure to take a picture anyway. If you look closely, you can even see his name tag.
Our other noteworthy moments happened at California Adventure. We much prefer Disneyland, but there are always a few attractions we like to see there. One of them is the roller coaster California Screamin, which has to be one of my favorite roller coasters. I'm getting way too old to enjoy them as much as I used to, but I still love this one. And while Enzo is of course way too small to ride, he loved watching the cars take off and shoot into the air.
After the roller coaster, we walked back to another part of the park and had to cross over a pier or boardwalk sort of thing. What should have been a 30 second walk across the bridge took us at least 15 minutes - because we let Enzo get down and walk.
He would take a few steps and then run to the railing and look over into the water.
He would spend a few minutes looking into the water, then when we could finally pull him away, he would take a few more steps, go around a post, and then go straight to the railing again to look into the water. While looking into the water, we spotted a duck, which Enzo called "guck"...and he couldn't get enough.
Enzo loves music, hence the only part of a cartoon we can get him to watch is the theme song at the beginning. His favorite changes between Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, and Handy Manny. We can never watch the whole cartoon - only the song at the beginning, and then he's begging for "more, more, more." Thankfully, we have the modern technology wonders such as On Demand and You Tube, so we can repeatedly watch them over....and over...and over again. So it would be no big surprise that our favorite stop at California Adventure was Disney Junior, Live on Stage - where we got to see Jake and Manny and Mickey right up in front of us, where gold dubloons rained from the sky, where Handy Manny fixed the bubble machine so we could pop bubbles (another favorite of Enzo's, of course) to our hearts' content, and where we got to hear ALL of Enzo's favorite theme songs. It was all we could do to keep him from climbing right up on stage with his favorite characters.
So after two trips in his lifetime, Enzo has taken after his dad and Loves Disneyland. And while I grew up in Southern California and have been to Disneyland more times than I can count, it has truly become the happiest place on earth for me - only since I've been an adult and been able to see it through a child's eyes. (First James, when we were first married, skipping down the road singing "M-I-C, K-E-Y, M-O-U-S-E" at the top of his lungs, and now Enzo, with his love of "Choo-Choo!"s and "Boat"s and "Jake"...and all of the other many wonders Disneyland has to offer.)

My kids, all grown now, don't remember us taking them to Disneyland when they were little, but then we took them again when they were like 10-13 and they LOVED it. Andrea just took her 3 year old at the beginning of June and I think, like you, she loved seeing it through a child's eyes. Fun times, good memories.
